Robots That Vacuum and Mop
Robots that vacuum and clean offer the convenience of cleaning dry and wet messes in one session and without the need to switch devices. They can also save space when compared to two separate units, especially in smaller living spaces.
A good combination bot will provide excellent navigation and obstacle avoidance. Look for models with docks that allow them to automatically empty their bins, fill their water tanks and machine-wash the mopping pads.
1. Eufy S1 Pro
It has plenty to offer for its affordable price and is one of the most simple robots we've tested to set up. Unpacking the S1 Pro is simple, and the quick-start guide will get you up and running with a clean, full dust bag, a hard floor solution and water tank in no time at all.
The S1 Pro is an incredibly powerful machine that can mop and vacuum well. The mops spin at a high speed and utilize 2.2 pounds (1kg of force) to quickly get rid of pet hair, dirt and sticky dried spills. The vacuum cleaner has four power settings, a variety of brushes and attachments, and an intuitive app which lets you choose the kind of cleaning you want for each room.
For instance, you can opt for the robot to do a deep clean in the kitchen and living rooms but be careful with the spare bedroom. The S1 Pro's front colision sensors and smart navigation technology are superb as the robot is capable of detecting small obstacles that other models have difficulty overcoming. The only issue it has is that it tends to smash into walls and other objects at full speed. However, just a glance at the cleaning history in the app tells you exactly what it's doing as well as where it's heading and what obstacles it's avoided.
A handy LCD screen on the docking station tells the maintenance tasks that must be completed including emptying the debris tray and rinsing its dirty water tank. It also mixes detergent into the water tank in a controlled manner with a 600ml of eufy solution.
Both the S1 Pro vacuum and mop have plenty of run-time, with the mop capable of running for up to 184 minutes in quiet mode and the vacuum able to do 136 minutes in normal mode, before needing to recharge or return to the base to refill. And you can see the entire cleaning information in the app, which is clearly laid out and is easy to comprehend however we would have liked to be able distinguish between a vacuum and mop clean, when examining a cleaned area in the cleaning history.
2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra
The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra, the most recent version of Roborock's flagship robot mop and vacuum, is the most up-to-date version. It's not like the model from last year it comes with a double agitator in its mopping pad, which significantly enhances its carpet cleaning abilities. The S8 Pro Ultra has an enhanced suction power which allows it to pick up finer hairs and other debris other robotic cleaners may miss.
As with the two other Roborock models I've tried the S8 Pro Ultra has a reactive 3D obstacle avoidance and infrared technology to helps it avoid walls, furniture and other obstacles. The S8 Pro Ultra goes one step further and incorporates dual cameras that can detect objects, determining whether they are walls or other surfaces. It can then change its path automatically and clean them without stumbling.
It's the most expensive model I've tested and it comes with the most features. Its sleek, angular design is eye-catching and it has just three physical buttons which include the power button which also resumes cleaning; a mop-only button that doubles as a child lock and a home button that can return the robot to its dock. The hinged lid can be opened to reveal a 350ml dustbin and 200ml of water tank. The water tank is automatically filled and the bin auto-refills.
The only downside I found to this model was that the VibraRise mop pads mount is not removable. Although you can change the mopping cloth (if needed) however, it's a hassle to remove the mount to wash manually. I've noticed that any plush carpet that the robot passes will be in contact with the rough Velcro-like fastener system on the mount, which could cause abrasions.
The S8 Pro Ultra has a number of smart capabilities that include support for Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Siri. You can configure and manage these via the Roborock app which is also the home of its maps and advanced mopping settings. The app also lets you to schedule cleanings, track battery life and component maintenance. However, you'll have to go through a few hurdles to enable voice control on this model, which is a shame considering how well it performs otherwise.
3. Dreame X40
The Dreame X40 is an industry-leading robot vacuum and mop equipped with outstanding suction power, advanced mowing capabilities, and ingenuity features. Its intelligent design allows you to personalize and efficiently clean while saving time.
The X40 is the first robotic vacuum cleaner to provide 12,000 Pascals of cleaning power, which makes it one of the best options available. This powerful vacuum can clean up pet hair dust, crumbs and any other dry messes. It comes with a mop of excellent quality that can clean hard floors without the need for a pad. In addition, the X40 is very quiet during its operation, with only occasional bursts of noise when switching between modes or performing self-maintenance tasks.
Another notable feature is the X40's extendable and liftable side brushes, which allows it to get into hard-to-reach corners and intimately clean furniture such as table and chair legs. It can also get under furniture that is low-profile which makes it a great option for smaller apartments or condos. The side brush automatically lowers itself when it spots wet spots, which is a nice touch that helps the X40 to avoid causing damage to floors by the frequent back-and-forth movement.
Unlike some other robots that only focus on one thing, the X40 can perform both vacuuming and mopping at the same time or separately. It can be programmed to mop only the hard floors and not skip carpeted areas, and vice versa. It can be controlled using the Dreame app or by using Alexa, Siri, and Google Home for a seamless voice-controlled operation.
The app is simple to use and understand and the X40 has many smart features that are easy to set up. Users can program the X40 to clean at specific times, alter suction power and mode, view floor plans and maps and manage mopping settings. The X40 will also track its progress, and alert you when it's finished.
The X40 is easy to clean and has many convenient features, making it a perfect option for busy families. The docking station automatically empty the dustbin into a large 3.2 L bin, washes the mop pads, and refills them with clean water and a cleaning solution. It also can detect when the mop pad is overflowing and notify you when it overflows, thus reducing the necessity for manual maintenance.
4. L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra robot is one of the most expensive models on the market. It does have a number of features that make it stand out. Smart DuoScrub, which is a new feature in its mop, utilizes two mop heads with high-speed motors to scrub floors more thoroughly. It also has a maximum suction force of 7,000Pa. This is significantly higher than the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra or Ecovacs Deebot T20 Omni and can vacuum up pet hair and small dirt particles - and also pick up spills and wet spots.
The mop mops are cleaned and dried in the base station every time they are used. This is an excellent feature because it prevents the growth of mould and unpleasant odours in storage, and it also makes the mop system a lot more efficient. This is a feature we haven't seen on other robot vacuum and mop models. It could be a great way to keep your home cleaner longer.
There's best robot vacuum of options available, including the possibility to schedule cleaning appointments and alter a variety of preferences. They can be set through the app, or via direct buttons on the device itself. The app is simple to use and has many options to customize your cleaning routine. It also has many features that aren't offered on other robots, for instance the Clean Genius Mode, which automatically increases suction when it detects dust particles.
The L20 Ultra is also one of the most stylish robots we've seen on the market, with metallic and white design that looks classy and sophisticated. It's a little heavier than the other two-in-one robots on this list - at around 4kg but it's not too heavy, and feels robust and well built. The mopping design is also excellent, and the double rotating mops work well on hard floors and in corners. They can even extend up to 2mm baseboards thanks to the MopExtend feature which is a nice addition.
